My name is Maylis Laverne. I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to Bellingham, Washington, three years ago. I am a visual journalism major at Western Washington University, graduating in Spring 2024.

During my time at WWU, I’ve enjoyed collaborative visual work and have created a vast array of multimedia work. I just finished working as the Editor in Chief for Klipsun Magazine, which allowed me to expand my understanding of the editorial process, design, layout and management. In my own time, I have enjoyed photographing events, people and recently a wedding. 

After graduation, I plan to move to Paris, France to pursue visual journalism within magazines, improve my French and reconnect with my familial heritage.
