My name is Maylis Laverne. I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to Bellingham, Washington, five years ago. I majored in visual journalism at Western Washington University and graduated in Spring 2024.

During my time at WWU, I enjoyed collaborative visual work and created a vast array of multimedia work. I worked as the editor-in-chief for Klipsun Magazine, and I interned with The Snowboarder’s Journal, both of which allowed me to expand my understanding of the editorial process, design, layout, and management. In my own time, I have enjoyed photographing food, events, and people.

As a recent graduate, I find myself looking for new opportunities to expand my knowledge and experience in journalism.
